The Storms Are Coming! |
Sunday, May 11, 2008 |
Holy Smoke! Last night was brutal! There were several thunderstorms, lightening storms, and even a few tornados that touched down in Macon last night. One apartment community on the lake was severely damaged. Several house have been destroyed with reports of them "exploding" and one even "splitting in half"! Crazy, huh? The Sheriff's department has issued a warning "Do NOT leave your home!" Most of the churches in the area have cancelled services (some out of necessity). Right now, if you aren't leaving your house for an emergency (i.e. Mrs. Mandypoo's husband going to pick up his brother, who's house is destroyed) then you could get a ticket for being on the road.
We are expecting a milder version of round 2 this afternoon. It's likely to cause flooding! The last time Macon flooded, my house personally didn't have any damage, but much of Macon did, including the water plant, which it took 3 weeks to repair! That means some people went 3 weeks without water! Thank God for a well! I hope they are prepared for this afternoon.Labels: storms |

They Like Me! They Really Really Like Me! |
Tuesday, February 19, 2008 |
Today, at work I was speaking with our representative for one of the local apartment magazines. She was telling me that the president of the Georgia Apartment Association(GAA) would be at our Middle Georgia Apartment Association (MGAA) meeting tonight. MGAA is just a small region within the GAA. Kinda like a city to a state. She told me that this guy just bought a few apartments in our area and was hiring. She thought I should go to the meeting tonight to meet him. So I did.
It turns out he used to be the Vice President of my old company. He left about a year ago. Now he is the President of another company. He is looking for property managers and regional managers. He remembered me from my old company, and told me he wanted to talk with me tomorrow. They have A LOT of properties (as in over 70). He said several people had recommended he talk with me, so he definately wanted to speak tomorrow. I am SO EXCITED! This means so many things. 1. I do have a good reputation in this town, despite my old boss' effort to destroy it. 2. I may have a job, and 3. If I ever wanted to go back to my old company, this guy on my resume would guarantee it. (Kiss my butt Amy!)
Also, my regional manager from my first property management job came up to me tonight and told me she wanted me back. I didn't enjoy working for that company at all, and am not very interested in going back, but the positive thing is she told me I was the best manager she ever had, and she said it in front of the regional I am "temporarily" working for. So maybe between Walt and Karen trying to rope me up, my temp job may just turn permanent. I guess only time will tell!
P.S. I tried to upload more pictures of the damage from the storm, but my computer was screwing up today. I'm trying to post pictures you can actally see without a magnifying glass. :)
P.S.S. My spellcheck quit working like 2 weeks ago. Anyone else's not working? Anyone know how to fix it?Labels: job search, storms |

We had tornados come through Macon last night. It was terrifying since I was home alone, and Madi and mom were stuck at church. I'm sick today, so I am not at work, but the picture shows storm damage at the apartment community I work at. It was submitted to our local news channel by one of the residents.
