Weekly Weigh In
Friday, May 30, 2008
I haven't kept up with this as promised. Mostly because I cheated, and there isn't must to post. I started on Friday, May 16th at 132 lbs. Wednesday, May 21st I was down 2 lbs. to 130 lbs! Unfortunately, while in Orlando I ate whatever, whenever, however...so I'm back up to 132 lbs. :(

Well, I'm back on track with my diet and my work outs, so hopefully next week I'll have better news to report.

I plan to post pictures too...so we can track my shrinking waisteline...(and booty!)

Calling All Numismatists
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
I actually had to look that word up. Well, to be honest, I looked up "Coin Collector" because I knew there was a term for it, but didn't know what it was. So if you didn't know either, now you do. :)

Monaco Rare Coin is part of the Monex family of companies, who apparently is a big name in coin collecting. I myself, am not a coin collector. I didn't even do the 50 state quarter collection or the yearly penny collections that my dad and sister did. Nope, in fact, I pretty much spend every coin that passes through my hands. I would probably make a numismatist faint from my lack of knowledge and/or care of where my coins come from or go to. This is probably mostly due to my lack of knowledge.

How can you tell one coin from the next? And how do you know when you have come across a valuable coin? You see commercials all the time for coins, but what if they are all scams? I mean, really, should you pay $5.00 for a quarter? Isn't that $4.75 too much? I guess the answer is to go through a coin dealer. With a company like Monaco Rare Coin, you know you are dealing with people who really know their stuff. With over 40 years buying and selling coins, you can be confident in the products and advise you get. You wouldn't buy stocks without going to the expert, so why would you buy coins without going to the expert?

LA {police} Gear?
Do you know anyone who is a member of the police force or sheriff department? LA Police Gear has a website full of police gear including the 5.11 Tactical Shirts. I assume this means there were at least 5.10 tries before this one to get it right? Hopefully, you aren't one of the guys wearing shirt 5.1 or something. For all you know, it won't actually stop a speeding bullet. And if you are, you just might want to trade it in for a new model. Seriously, you should look into that.

Oh, and for those of you who have no interest in police gear. The site actually sells Under Armour also. I know Damian, being the athlete he is, swears by that stuff.

4 Hours of Sleep in 48 Hours!
Saturday, May 24, 2008
Tired doesn't begin to describe how I felt this morning. After only 3 hours of sleep Friday morning I got to the Atlanta airport at 8:30a.m...plenty of time for my 10:20 flight...concourse A.

Unfortunately, this is as close as I actually got to the plane. Yep, I missed the flight. The next flight was at 12:15...concourse B.

Yep, you guessed it. This is as close to that flight as I got, also! Stupid stand-by! Next flight 1:30p.m...concourse E. 2:30...concourse T. 3:30...concourse A. Okay, throw me a bone here! I have got to get on a plane some time today! I plug in my laptop, work my magic and discover I can fly into Daytona Beach at 4:00....oh, crap...RUN! Finally, I make a flight, and get into Daytona Beach at 5:15p.m. Unfortunately, my luggage did not!

Frances (my neighbors mother) picked me up, ran me to the store to get a few necessities which I had packed in my luggage, and dropped me off at 7:00p.m. to wait in line. My place in line?

Number 2

All in all about 25 people slept outside in line, and over 700 showed up to try out. It was a blast! I can't wait to hear in August!

Yes, that is Kid Romeo in the middle...No. I didn't have any idea who he was. Like I watch wrestling!

Oh, and did I meantion it stormed while we camped outside? Thankfully, we were under an awning!

It's too Early!!
Friday, May 23, 2008

6:16 a.m. I am so tired!! I didn't get up this early when I actually worked!

I was so excited last night, I didn't fall asleep until ater 3:00 a.m.! My alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. That, my friends, is not a lot of sleep. And considering tonights sleep will be in a sleeping bag propped up against a building...I'm thinking by the end of this trip, I might be a rather grumpy Skittle. But for now...I'M SO EXCITED! I'M ON MY WAY TO APPLY FOR SURVIVOR!

And I was so happy before...
Monday, May 19, 2008
It sucks when you have days so bad, you can't even celebrate the good. I have everything worked out for my Survivor casting call, and it will only cost me $45 + food...2 days in Orlando, flight, car...and all I have to front is $45! Crazy, huh?! So I should be ecstatic, right? Well, I'm excited, but that is about as far as it goes. It doesn't run any deeper, because quite honestly, despair is beginning to set in. I am still out of work! This cannot continue to go on. What do I do? Do I continue to wait it out? I am collecting unemployment, but that too will end. (I do still have 18 weeks though.) Do I cave, and just take any ole' job? Wait tables? What do I do?! I had 2 interviews over the last 2 weeks....0 call backs. No idea why on the first one, but the second guy told me up front..."Most of the time when I hire girls your age, they end up more trouble than it's worth." As if my age was 16 or something...I'm 27 for goodness sake! And almost 28 for that matter! Do you have to hit the big 30 in order to get some respect in the real world? And if so, what rock do you want me to live under until then?

This Survivor thing seems to be the only thing holding me up from drowning...and its a shot in the dark. One in a million. It's like playing the lottery with your last dollar. I have to cling to it. Maybe tomorrow will be better...

I Will Survive!
Sunday, May 18, 2008
Since the first season of Survivor in 2001, I have been a huge fan! I have wanted to be on the show, and have applied several times. This year, for the first time ever, CBS is having open casting calls. The only two locations were in Seattle, WA and Wilkes-Barre, PA. Because of the limited flights to Wilkes-Barre, I decided I would have to go to Seattle to apply. I am fortunate to have flight benefits with Delta because of my dad's job, but the fight was still going to cost me $180...money I don't have right now.

Of all the things that have happened in my life over the last 7 months, staying home yesterday, and not flying out to Seattle, was one of the most difficult things for me. Knowing that I couldn't take that money from my daughter and our needs, I had to sacrifice and not go.

Today, I looked on CBS.com and there were 2 more locations listed!!! One is in Florida, just outside of Orlando. A plane ticket will cost me $45! So, I'm going to get my things in order, so that Friday night, I can board a plane to Orlando.

I will be the next Survivor!

The Biggest Loser = Me!

Friday I stepped on the scales at the gym. I weigh now what I weighed the day I checked into the hospital to deliver my daughter almost 10 years ago! WHAT!?! Now granted, I was etheopian skinny prior to getting pregnant, and only gained 30 lbs. during my pregnancy (all of which I lost by Madi's 2 week check-up). But as of today I weight 132 pounds! (Yes, I did just publish my weight for the world to see. I mean, it's not like the world around me can't see it on me, so why shouldn't I just share it with you too.)

Now, I also realize that 132 is not fat. I am 5'4" and should by "medical standards" weigh between 114 and 152. And a number is just that...a number. But that number includes zero muscle....just fat. I have gone from a size 4, two years ago, to a size 6 last year, and now I'm pushing an 8. And up until around age 25 I was a size 2 or less.

So as of Friday, the diet and exercise has started...for real! I'm not dieting in the sense of lettuce and carrots only, but more grilled chicken instead of fried; fruit instead of fries; and skipping desserts (yes, even those glorious Triple Chocolate Meltdowns at Applebees). And I've bought every 100 calorie snack out there!

So I will post my weight every Wednesday for the world to see. My goal weight = 115. That means 17 pounds to go!

Less than a mile from my old apartment

The Golden Arches (or Arch in this case) says it all.

Damage to my beloved Krispy Kream...Get Well Soon, We Miss You!

Academy Sports store front

Very few trees were left standing on the campus of Macon State College

Walls destroyed at concession stand.

The tornado picked up a trailer and dropped it in the neighboring parking lot of Olympia Skate Rink

And a look at the skating rink behind the trailer! Lots of childhood memories in that building!

The Storms Are Coming!
Sunday, May 11, 2008
Holy Smoke! Last night was brutal! There were several thunderstorms, lightening storms, and even a few tornados that touched down in Macon last night. One apartment community on the lake was severely damaged. Several house have been destroyed with reports of them "exploding" and one even "splitting in half"! Crazy, huh? The Sheriff's department has issued a warning "Do NOT leave your home!" Most of the churches in the area have cancelled services (some out of necessity). Right now, if you aren't leaving your house for an emergency (i.e. Mrs. Mandypoo's husband going to pick up his brother, who's house is destroyed) then you could get a ticket for being on the road.

We are expecting a milder version of round 2 this afternoon. It's likely to cause flooding! The last time Macon flooded, my house personally didn't have any damage, but much of Macon did, including the water plant, which it took 3 weeks to repair! That means some people went 3 weeks without water! Thank God for a well! I hope they are prepared for this afternoon.

Stop It!
Friday, May 9, 2008
The Bible says "Be fruitful and multiply." NOT over populate Arkansas! Apparently, Michelle Duggar (age 41) is pregnant with baby number 18! According to this article the oldest is 20, and the youngest just 9 months! Isn't there a 6 weeks waiting period?!? Could you not wait?! And seriously, this must be the most fertile man and woman on the planet! Plus, I'm positive by baby number 6, you will never be the same...gravity can only do some much!

I watched a show about them on the Discovery Channel last year, and apparently, they have a series coming out soon. I guess when you have 19 mouths to feed, you gotta make some extra income somewhere. Well, at least they are taking care of the children, and from what I saw on the show, the kids all seem like good kids.

Really, I guess the thing that bothers me the most about this story is that Michelle Duggar said that she and her husband will keep having children as long as God wills it! What are your thoughts?

You can check out more about the family on their website.

P.S. I love you!
Tuesday, May 6, 2008

I have been dying to see this movie! I missed it in the theater, then I missed it in the dollar theater! So this morning at 8:30, I rushed to the RedBox! I'm so excited! I'm going to watch it tonight.

This also leads me to my knew found love...RedBox! We have one at our local Walmart & Kroger. Movies are $1 per night! Eat your heart out Blockbuster!

//edit//

I believe I cried 98% of this movie. I have set a new personal record. I'm a cryer anyway. I mean, Halmark commercials get me, but this movie takes the cake. It was a GREAT movie! It tugged on my heart strings the entire time. Great Chick Flick rental, and one I think even the guys will appreciate and enjoy. Just have a box of tissues handy.

Oh, and I realize that this is sad, and pathetic for that matter...BUT if you just happen to have $229.00 lying around, and wanted to get me a present (mother's day, sorry you don't have a job, just because, whatever) I would love to have this! I said I know it's pathetic. None-the-less, if I had the money, I would probably waste it on something like that. I'm going to search for more stuff.

Two & a Half Jokes!
I swear Two & a Half Men just might be the funniest show on t.v. these days. Now, before you misread what I said...funniest...not my favorite. That spot belongs to Grey's Anatamy. Anyway, back to Two & a Half Men...this show is hilarious!

Tonight's quote of the night..."I gotta warn you, coffee goes right through me, so if you are going to need to do a cavity search you better do it soon." That won't be necessary. "Can I request one?"

The Sun Was Shining!
Friday, May 2, 2008
Today was a good day! (Well besides the fact that I lied.) I had a second interview in Atlanta for the job here in Macon. It went well...so now we wait and see.

I won a prize on the radio, because I for once knew some worthless trivia!

I sold my first Ebay item!

I found out about a job opening up with the American Cancer Society in my area!

Yep, the sun was shining, and all is well!

On a side note. After my interview I stopped by the Lenox Square Mall to eat lunch. First of all purple was a big color today. I must have seen 7 men wearing purple shirts! Second of all; if I were single that is the mall I would hang out in. There must have been 7 young (25-35ish) men for every young girl! Crazy! Third...this whole metro thing, just may be going too far. Now, I am one to love a well dressed man. Damian is the poster child for a metrosexual man. BUT! Today in the mall I couldn't tell the gay men from the straight ones! (Well, with the exception of the guy working at Nine West with the better walk than me.)

Okay, I'm done now! Good night

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!
I feel like such a liar today. And I lied on purpose! It's not like I woke up this morning and said "I think I'll be a liar today." It just happened.

You see. The morning show I was listening to had a trivia question this morning. See if you can guess it. (I'll give you the answer tomorrow!)

Today marked the 5 year anniversary for online music downloads. In that time, what is the most downloaded song?

After a couple of hints I was pretty sure I knew the answer, so I called in. And of course, after dialing for 5 minutes, as soon as I get through, they take a break! So the girl on the phone asked if I would hold. I say sure (why not, I'm driving to Atlanta, what else do I have to do?). So then she comes back and says "We aren't going to go back to the trivia question right now, but I still want to use you for something else, and I'll make sure you get a prize. Is that okay?" Again, I say sure, and I'm put on hold again. She comes back, and here is where the lying begins...

She says to me, "Are you married?" I say nope. She says "Do you have a boyfriend?" So I say yeah. She says good. "We are promoting a product called Super Beta Prostate and I need you to say that your boyfriend has been using it for 5 months, and he has noticed a big difference, and you have too, and that it has really helped your relationship." I was like..."Uh, what?!" Damian and I don't even have sex, and I'm back on hold again! Then I hear this young guy come on and say..."yada yada...I've used the product...yada yada" and I'm thinking to myself...Liar! No you haven't and neither has my boyfriend! Then I'm on...it's my turn. So I LIED! But I didn't say it has helped our relationship.

Anyway, after all was said and done, I still got to guess at the trivia question, and got it right! I will be receiving a prize in the mail...who knows what, and I lied.
