P.S. I love you!

I have been dying to see this movie! I missed it in the theater, then I missed it in the dollar theater! So this morning at 8:30, I rushed to the RedBox! I'm so excited! I'm going to watch it tonight.

This also leads me to my knew found love...RedBox! We have one at our local Walmart & Kroger. Movies are $1 per night! Eat your heart out Blockbuster!

//edit//

I believe I cried 98% of this movie. I have set a new personal record. I'm a cryer anyway. I mean, Halmark commercials get me, but this movie takes the cake. It was a GREAT movie! It tugged on my heart strings the entire time. Great Chick Flick rental, and one I think even the guys will appreciate and enjoy. Just have a box of tissues handy.

Oh, and I realize that this is sad, and pathetic for that matter...BUT if you just happen to have $229.00 lying around, and wanted to get me a present (mother's day, sorry you don't have a job, just because, whatever) I would love to have this! I said I know it's pathetic. None-the-less, if I had the money, I would probably waste it on something like that. I'm going to search for more stuff.

Sometimes you just need a break
Monday, December 17, 2007
Since Damian got back to Georgia in October, we have had NO time to ourselves. Being a single mom those times are hard to come by, but with my surgeries it has been even more difficult. Our relationship had just become very impersonal. It seemed Damian treated me more like a patient than his girlfriend. No doubt in my mind he loves me...gosh, he changed my catheter bag! You have to love me to do that. He had just become so preoccupied with my health that he forgot about my heart.

Now that I am doing better, I can tell things are starting to get back to normal with us, so yesterday I arranged a day just for us. Madi went to my moms after church, and Damian and I spent the day together. We ate a feast at Red Lobster, road around looking at houses, went to see I am Legend, picked up Starbucks, and finished the day off with Applebee's Molten Lava cake. Yum, yum!

It was a great day! It's nice just to get away from the responsibilities of life, and just enjoy the day.

Don't Mind if I Do

My buddy Joen has a blog specifically for movie reviews, which makes him the expert. However, after renting several movies this week (but only watching 2 so far), I feel the need to review them. This review will also give you insight into my maturity and mentality level.

Movie 1: Shrek 3
Damian, Madi and I all three watched this movie & loved it! It was the hilarious mixture of comedy and crude that we have all grown to love from the Big Ogre, Donkey, and Puss in Boots! With several new voices (including JT) there was quite the cast! Unlike many child-friendly movies the plot was never slow, and was full of gross humor. Though there were a few adult jokes, they were so subtle that even my 9 year old didn't pick up on them.

On a scale of 1 to 10, this movie gets a solid 8! I loved it!

Movie 2: Surf's Up
Have you noticed a trend yet? Funny thing is, Madi refused to watch this one with Damian and I. Damian has a love for animated movies, and I too have found that they can be quite refreshing. This movie was all about Cody Maverick, a surfing penguin from Antarctica. Through the whole movie he tries to find himself through his role model "Big Z" and along the way finds a best friend and a girl too. Its a great all around feel good movie. I actually was able to figure out the twist to this one pretty quickly, which actually made me feel smart, because Damian generally figures out all the twists to a movie during the beginning credits. Drives me nuts! I never see it coming! This movie too was full of one liners and funny stabs!

On a scale of 1 to 10: This one gets an 8 too.

Both excellent movies. I really enjoyed both of them, probably even enough to watch them a second time. Both are funny for adults, but safe for kids.

I also rented "We are Marshall" featuring the very sexy Matthew McConaughey. If I can get past his yummy smile, and paralyzing eyes I'll review that one too.

She's only 9, and I'm already battling for her time!
Saturday, September 22, 2007
It drives my mom crazy that Madi went from staying with her every other weekend to almost never. Why? Because we now live in a neighborhood full of kids. She likes to be home. Well, now it's pissing me off too! Last Saturday my brother-in-law wanted to take her to some redneck festival, but what the heck she is all tomboy, so I told him, "Sure, she'll go with you." But NO Madi would rather stay home & play. I let her make the decision, but I told her I was dissapointed with her choice. 30 minutes after her choice the other kids had to go in, and she was stuck home alone. Yes, I was secretly smiling inside. Kids need to learn the hard way too!

So today I told Madi to get dressed, we are going to lunch and movie, and be home in plenty of time to still play. So she goes "Can Caleb or Gracie go too?" NO! No they cannot. Can WE just spend some time together...alone? and at that very moment I realized I am my mother!

So I go to the theater website & pull of the listings. I'm thinking we will go see Sydney White. Uh, excuse me?! Did you know that this "kids" movie is rated PG-13? What? Are you kidding me? The only 2 movies currently playing with a rating less than PG-13 are Mr. Bean's Holiday and Underdog. So I guess we will be seeing Mr. Bean's Holiday. (A review will follow later.)

Parenting Tip: www.Family.org has a review page for movies, video, tv shows, and even music. It's not one of those bashing reviews, but a very helpful review breaking things down to specifics on spiritual, sexual, and violent content. Listing the pros and cons of the movie without giving the movie away.
