Are we there yet? |

Well, one trip down and one to go. But first middle school open house and starting a new school year. (ugh... Still not looking forward to that.) The trip to TN was fun but short. The river flooded so no tubing this trip. But did manage to work in some shopping. :) Since I am updating on my iTouch pictures will have to wait, but maybe you'll be as entertained by my nieces as I was... Abby' (5) upon waking at a quick stop: "My panties went into my crack when I went to sleep." Abby after going thru a drive-thru: "I sure wish I had a napkin." (which meant she probably needed one.) Abby' immmediately after the last comment: "Do I still have panties on?"
Mom: Natalie, sweet girls don't bite. Natalie (3): but puppies do.Labels: Family, tn, vacation |

I'd Hardly Call this Vacation! |
Tuesday, July 28, 2009 |
Life is gonna be CRAZY busy for the Skittle family over the next few weeks. Madi and I are leaving tomorrow to go to Tenn. with my sister and her girls. My mom and Dad will be up there too. We'll probably just float the river and hang out at the pool most of the time, but I'm sure Madi and I will find the time to sneak to Gatlinburg to do a little school shopping.
After going to a family reunion on Saturday, we will head back to town, so I can be back in time to teach a class on Sunday with my hubby.
Madison starts MIDDLE SCHOOL on Tuesday. I think I'm gonna die. I am WAY too young for that :) (No really, I'm 29...way too young.)
She is only gonna go Tues & Wed b/c we are flying out to KC Thursday morning for Damian's sisters wedding. I'm super excited, but this means meeting all the family who didn't come to our wedding (including his elderly great-grandparents). And we'll fly back on Monday. I'm gonna be EXHAUSTED! I wish we had more time to visit, but since school starts back so ridiculously early we'll have to make it a fly-be visit.Labels: vacation |

Vacation for me? |
Thursday, February 7, 2008 |
I'm thinking of going on a short Vacation next weekend. My parents bought the cabin in Tennessee back a few months ago. With all that has gone on over the last few months (my surgeries, Eli's birth, Christmas, and New Year) my parents haven't even been back up to the house since they closed on it. As in, they haven't even "moved" in to it. So they left this afternoon to take up a load of furniture. It's only a one bedroom cabin, so it's not like there is a lot. Anyway, since they are furnishing it this weekend, I figure I should visit it next weekend. :) I think it'll be a good Valentine's Weekend, but we'll probably take Madi along too.

I'm Thankful for Fall |
Wednesday, November 21, 2007 |
I went to Indian Springs with my parents for a nice diversion from my hectic life here. My dad's family had booked 2 cabins a while back & the 4 children (ha..they are in their 50s, so can you really call them children), the 4 brothers & sisters were all going to stay Sun - Wednesday. Because some of them were sick, the cabins had plenty of extra room, so Mom took me up there Monday after my surgery.
I am so amazed that only 40 minutes away was this gorgeous area, I had never seen or heard of. It was beautiful! Thousands of acres full of trees and animals. There was a beautiful lake, for fishing, canoeing, swimming (not now), and even with a beach. There were nature trails, biking trails, putt-putt, camp-sites, cabins, and so much peace!
About a mile down the road was a place called Dauset Trails. It sits on 400 acres, and has a "wonder room" (yuck! full of reptiles), several animal trails, tree trails, and more. We spent Tuesday morning there, and had a great time. I took several pictures...

So now you have shared in my peaceful getaway!Labels: pictures, vacation |

Old & Bitter! |
Thursday, August 2, 2007 |
Madi and I are at the beach staying in Pastor John's condo. His condo is in a building in the middle of about 9 buildings all managed by the same company. I have come to realize that most of the people in this building are OLD and actually live here. They spend their days monitoring the amenities to make sure the guests are not mis-using them but never actually using them themselves. For instance, the indoor pool...not once have I seen anyone other than a child in the pool, but twice while using the pool have residents of the 7th and 10th floor made their way down the elevator to let us know we are being loud. Really? It's a pool...inside the building...a building that echos. Maybe someone should have thought that out a little better if noise is a concern. Can I just ad that the second instance didn't actually involve Madison. Nope, in fact the lady actually came down from the 10th floor to let us know the little boy who was crying needed to quiet down. Yep, apparently crying is against the rules. Labels: beach, vacation |

The water, the waves, the sand, the sun... |

...oh the list goes on...the things I love about the beach. I think it just might be my favorite of God's creation outside of people. (In fact, I actually prefer it to some people!) If only the drive there were shorter. Not that 5 1/2 hours is ridiculous or anything, but just imagine if the drive were say...non-existant! This is my dream, to live on the beach. I have decided that you only get one opportunity to live, and I'm going to live my life to the fullest. Lord willing, I will live at the beach before I die. I may not be on the beach, but I will be close by. I want to live in a beach town, where at 5:00 people load up and go to the beach after work. Where Saturdays aren't filled with boredom, and the beauty of the ocean is just minutes away. Tomorrow will be just a visit but one day the beach will be my home! Labels: beach, vacation |
