Hello Again!
Thursday, May 6, 2010
I am thankful for those who actually check back on my page to see if I'm back. Because of that I feel guilty for not coming back more often. I really want to get back into this, just haven't been able to make it happen.

So I walked away from the Apartment Management world a few weeks ago! Woo Hoo! I went back to paralegaling :) I am really enjoying it, and feel a great deal of stress lifted off my shoulders. I feel like I'm actually doing something good also. The attorney I work for (the same one I worked for 4 years ago) really was struggling to keep up with his practice. Life had really taken a toll of him (His father suffered from dimensia, and just passed away), so I feel I have been really helpful in helping him get things back on track. Feeling accomplished I think is very important in your job. I feel accomplished!

Okay...that's all I'm giving you for now, because if I tell you everything, I won't come back.

Working is Hard Work!
Wednesday, June 18, 2008
Gosh! I forgot how much work, work is! I'm exhausted! I've decided unemployment isn't such a bad thing...it's actually kind of nice, but the pay really sucks :)

Seriously, work has been good. No drama (so far). I'm just not used to staying awake all day since I've been able to take a nap any time I want for the last 3 months. I'm thinking of implementing a community wide Siesta. I think it's an excellent idea. I think I'll put it in my marketing plan and see what they say in the home office.

O Blogworld, I Miss You!
Wednesday, November 7, 2007
I am taking a class all week, that should take 3 months to complete. Nope, we are shoving it in to 5 little days. This book is 4 inches thick & my butt hurts from sitting in class ALL day. I'm talking 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break. When all is said and done, if I pass & complete my project I will have letters behind my name! Yippee!

Community Manager, CAM

Woohoo!

Don't worry blog world. Next week I'll have my two surgeries & have plenty of alone time at home (if I can keep Damian and my mom out of my house!) I promise to give you more attention.

I am Not Superwoman, I am Not Superwoman, I am Not...
Wednesday, September 19, 2007

Okay so I am repeating this over and over, because though I know I am not Superwoman, and could never be, I seem to have the really bad habit of trying to be. You would think I would be satisfied with the many jobs and responsibilities I have, without opening myself up to a few more...but NOOOOO. I believe this may be the one thing that bothers Damian about me more than anything else. He hates that I do this. He reminds me often that I am not Superwoman, nor Mother Theresa. I could be though...right? Not Superwoman, but Mother Theresa...she's human, so that is attaintable right?

So why am I bringing this up? Because there is an apartment community being built up the road from me by my company. The new manager is less than the brightest star in the sky. I really believe her elevator only goes up 10 of her 12 floors. Which means she isn't completely dumb, just not fit to run a property. Yet she has the job. So why does this effect me? Because every member of her staff have called me to complain. They don't feel they are in a position to say anything considering she is their boss, so they figure I should.

So I did :) And though it doesn't seem to have backfired on me, I seems to be about to backfire on one of the employees. (Ugh!) Now if you are a long time reader of my blog, you will remember I have had difficulty with my boss in the past. Well, she took everything I said and twisted it against one particular employee basically saying she is bad-mouthing and gossiping about the manager. This is partially the truth, the problem is, she wasn't doing it just to do it...she was asking for help, and she wasn't the only one.

Damian says I should have stayed out of it. My boss says I did the right thing by coming to her about it. But did I really?

And while I'm stating my case, let me specify why exactly I did get involved. 1)We share one of the employees 2)Because with some assistance the manager just might could do the job and 3)Because as frustrating as my company can be at times, I don't exactly want to see them fail.

I am Not Superwoman, I am Not Superwoman, I am Not Superwoman...

WooHoo...6 Comments and Counting!
Thursday, August 23, 2007
Today is the day I begin working out again, as I have gained 6 lbs. since January. I'm going to start working out right after work each day...oops, I didn't go today :) Okay, seriously, I'm gonna go when I finish blogging (maybe).

Damian bought a truck last night! This is huge because this means he is coming home soon! The last contract is complete, and he obviously made some dough because he bought a truck and a bike (as in bicycle, not motorcycle)...don't ask, I don't know! It actually has a bell on it that says "I love my bike!" It's a good thing he's hot!

No really...he is...see

My co-worker had her baby today. Me being the procrastinator I am waited until Monday to find a fill in...yep, put that one off til the last minute, only had 9 months notice! Luckily my new girl starts Monday!

Tomorrow I'm going to ask for a raise...I deserve it, wish me luck.

Today I talked with a previous employee who I fired a few months ago. She moved to Virginia. She told me she has been putting out resumes. Yikes! They have no idea what they are getting into. Unfortunately my company has a policy against giving references. That sucks huh? I mean, she was asked to leave for a reason...shouldn't I be able to tell them that? I'd be surprised if she made it past the interview process anyway...common sense she does not have!

Well, I'm hungry...and I'm still supposed to do that evil exercise thing (which actually interests me a little more than giving up my daily chocolate chip cookies).

//edit//

Okay, so I actually did go exercise! (and tan) I am exhausted now...I even took out my contacts because even my eyes are exhausted. My weight loss goal...to lose pound for pound what my sister gains each month :) ha ha ha...she'll love me for that!

Any chance I can retire at 27?
Tuesday, July 24, 2007
Over a year ago I changed careers from being a paralegal to property management. I was good at being a paralegal, but I got tired of the same ole same ole. I didn't really have the opportunity to work with people, and I wasn't passionate about it anymore. So when the opportunity came up to change careers I decided to take a leap. Property management is exciting. It gives me the opportunity to meet new people each day. I have a staff, and thankfully I'm good at this too.

So in the last year I have poured myself into a new career...too much of myself. I made it my priority...above everything else. And things started to look like that was going to be to my benefit. I was offered 4 transfers or promotions over a 3 week period. I had my choice! It was easy to turn down the first option....No Thank You! Option number 2 was temping, in fact I was going to take it, until option number 3 came along. Then when opton number 4 came along, option number 2 was no longer so tempting. So I turned it down too. It was between a transfer to a bigger and better property and a promotion in a temporary position.

I wish I had the gift of seeing through b.s. Damian has that gift. From the first offer, he was able to see through the circumstances and say...don't get excited, I don't trust them. He continued to say this with each offer...and felt stronger each time. He was right. Apparently these offers where offered to more than one person, and when this was realized rather than choosing they decided to given the promotion & transfer to no one & hire outside the company. I think this is shady!

So in doing so, they have stolen my joy. I will no longer sweat blood and tears for them. I will continue to be a loyal employee. I will do my job, but what I will not do is allow it to take the number one spot again. Maybe this was the awakening I needed. Such is life...and life goes on.
